  • Axil - The place where the leaf stalk (petiole) meets the stem.
  • Blade - The flat and laterally expanded portion of a leaf.
  • Bud - The rudimentary stage of development of a branch, leaf, or flower.
  • Margin - The edge of a leaf.
  • Midrib - The central or main rib of a leaf.
  • Node - The place on a stem where leaves or branches originate.
  • Petiole - The stalk of a leaf blade or compound leaf.
  • Stem - The main ascending axis of a plant.
  • Stipule - An appendage at the base of a petiole.
