Aunt Betty says she got this one from one of her many Paula Dean recipe books. It's quick, easy, and pretty darn yummy.
|
Ingredients 2 cups of milk 5 slices of buttered bread 4 eggs 1 lb. Jimmy Dean hot sausage 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. salt (optional) |
|
Preparation:
Brown the sausage
Butter the bread and cut into bite size bits.
Stir eggs and milk together.
Layer in the bread, sausage, and cheese.
Sprinkle on the dry mustard (and optional salt).
Pour on the egg/milk mixture.
Cover and chill over night.
Instructions:
Next morning, remove from the refrigerator about a half hour before cooking
begins. Finally, bake at 350º for one hour.
It's sort-of like a breakfast quiche, but it's pretty good. And yes, real men eat quiche.
