The Extended Family

Meet the rest of us...

Below, you'll get to meet the extended family.  The clans are from both sides of the family; my parents, Debbie's parents, and the families of our siblings.  They're nice folks... get to know them here.

Hi there, we're Cecil & Marie Rogers.  We're Sam's parents.  We lived in the south east Georgia area (Reidsville, actually) until we both passed away.  We were married in June, 1958, and had 45 wonderful years together.  During our golden years, we spent time travelling for our research efforts in genealogy, and in Reidsville, in the restoration efforts of a couple of our local historical treasures, and Tattnall County area history.  Specifically, we were involved in the restoration of the Alexander Hotel (c.1892) which we successfully got listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It's NHRP #82002481.  We also did a lot of the volunteer restoration work on the Old Shiloh Cememtery, the original cemetery for the Shiloh Methodist Church (c.1810).  The Glennville Sentinel did a great full page atricle on Hallowed Ground, Old Shiloh Cemetery.  We weren't able to get it on the NHRP but, we were able to get a historical marker from the Georgia Historical Society for it.  It's also listed at Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute.  And, although we weren't physically able to work on it by the time the effort was begun, we watched the with great anticipation, the restoration of the old Tattnall County Courthouse (c.1902).

Unfortunately, I didn't get a single picture of family or friends at Dad's funeral, but family members can e-mail me here and I'll send you the link to the pictures of Mom's.

Larry Rogers' Family

Larry and Marsha   Candi and Jason   Wayne

Hiya.  We're Larry and Marsha Rogers.  We're Sam's brother and sister-in-law.  This is our family... Our daughter and son, Candi and Jason, and our other son, Wayne.  Candi and Jason have married since this photo, and sorry to say, we don't have pics of their spouses yet.  We're beginning to think Wayne may wind up an old maid.  We live up in the north Georgia area.

I'm guessing Larry doesn't check this page too often, and he'd probably kill me if he new I posted this stuff, but... If any of you remember the cotton mill fire in Atlanta back in 1999, here's a few stories about the guys that rescued that man from the top of the crane.  Larry was one of them.  A few of the stories are: one from CNN and a CNN follow-up, a Georgia Senate Resolution Ga SR-492, a write-up in Ga Statment, and a really nice write-up by Jack Warner.

A quick side note... Larry is finally back after serving our country in the middle east for two years.  For a quick glance at some real life heroes, click here.  Also, Sheila Cottrell, Marsha's sister, is a well known and wonderful artist.  Her work can be seen at www.sheilacottrell.com.
