Computing...

Making a website, protecting that web site, protecting one's home PC, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), custom error pages, javaScript, etc...  This, and much more is on the horizon for this page.  As for now, it's just a convenient place for me to store some information and some random notes on things I want to make sure I cover later.  It's also serving as a great place to store some very handy sites for reference, and some links for a laugh or two.

I can't do something like this without having a little fun with it.  To that end, I've added the Help Desk Log.  I discovered this little gem so long ago that I don't even know who the author is or where I found it anymore.  If someone knows, inform me and I'll give credit where it's due.  "Normal" folk won't get much out of it, but it's a hoot for the geeks of the world.  There are also some Murphy's Laws computing addendums that originally appeared on a coffee cup I used to have.  Enjoy...

Protecting one's home PC (or PCs) is a never ending task.  And, at work, folks were always dropping by for a little free, professional advice.  I originally wrote the linked article to thwart some of those stop-bys, and hopefully gain a little extra time to actually do my job.  Then, it occured to me that others (friends, relatives, etc.) may get some useful ideas out of that same article.  Now, keep in mind that information in the computer industry becomes dated quickly, and information of this particular type changes daily.  As a result, there are no version numbers or dates in the article.  If any of that info strikes your fancy, just go to the sites and investigate the latest versions.  So, for some things to consider and maybe a few recommendations, click here

In the mean time, if there is something someone wants me to address, you can send me a note... you can use either my form-mail, or a standard e-mail client
