Stone Mountain

The Confederate Memorial Carving on Stone Mountain is the largest high relief sculpture in the world.  From left to right, it depicts three Confederate heroes of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.  The entire carved surface measures three-acres, larger than a football field.  It is 90 feet high, 190 feet wide and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain.  Its deepest point is at Lee's elbow and is 12 feet to the mountain's surface.  Lee's horse's hip can easily accommodate a full size school bus.  For more information, see the Stone Mountain website.
